We are here, the very first blog of the New Year! First and foremost, I hope you are doing well? I hope you have been looking after yourselves, and that things are ok with you. I know Christmas and New Year felt a little different again this year, but we made it through, and honestly, we can only take every day as it comes, and do what we can.

I just have a feeling – this year is going to be amazing 🤍

I wanted to make this blog to have a little look at one of the pieces I have been styling a lot recently. Whilst donning my Pastel Pink Fedora on New Years Day at the races, and seeing fellow fashionistas styling theirs, it got me thinking if this was a marmite product, or whether it is something that is fast taking the Country styling world by storm. Its a colour that many hat companies have now chosen to introduce, and it’s delicate but statement shade is something that’s both playful and practical.

I want to explore styling the pastel pink fedora with you, working out if this is here to stay, or a trend which will get lost in time.

– The Fedora –

Fedoras are a hugely popular, and classic accessory. They originated in the 1800’s, and saw multiple spikes going in and out of popularity over the years, before becoming the well known, timeless accessory we know today.

Known for their practicality, but also how stylish they are, the Fedora is a must have in any wardrobe. They are the perfect English weather accessory! Whether it is keeping the sun out of your eyes on a warm day, or keeping the wind and rain off your hair in the winter, it can be a valuable headpiece to take with you day to day.

If you are not used to wearing a hat, the thought of a fedora can seem daunting, they are structured and larger in size, being an obvious accessory when worn – but don’t let this put you off. When looking for a fedora, there are multiple different styles and shapes, which will help you to find something suited to your style and face shape. There are different brim widths and shapes, as well as different crown heights and styles – all adding something a little different, helping you to find exactly what works for you!

It is important to ensure you find a fedora which is a suitable size. Too tight, and this will put a lot of pressure on your head, making this feel very uncomfortable. Too loose, and you are likely to lose your hat in a gust of wind, or be constantly trying to move it out of your eyes. The best way to check a fedora fit, is to measure measure your head, and then follow the individual brands style guide. The fedora should sit above your eyebrows, mis forehand, and whilst it should be snug, it should not feel uncomfortable.

Whilst extremely popular in neutral colours, Black, Tan and Brown often being the most popular, fedoras are available in a huge variety of vibrant and statement colours too, which can completely change your outfit.

Whilst I would definitely recommend starting your collection with a neutral to get yourself comfortable and familiar with fedora styling, there is so much fun to be had with the brighter, bolder colours!

– Pastel Pink –

The pastel/blush/dusty/baby pink shades of pink seem to have suddenly taken over the Country styling world, in the last 6 months or so. Whether it be jackets, jeans or hats, the pink hues are never far from an outfit close to us, and there’s good reason for this.

Whilst pastel colours are often associated with Summer styling, they have the beauty that their ‘icy’ shades actually make them fit very well with Winter fashion too. Pastel pink in particular is very easy to pull across to each season, due to its ability to pair with most other colours descritely. The easiest way to tie a pastel pink into your outfit is to opt for an item which has a pink share running through it already. If you wear a lot of tweeds, looking for something with a pink check through is a really easy way to introduce pink accessories into the outfit.

Pastel pink works really well with all skin tones, which makes it a perfect statement colour to try, if you aren’t sure where to begin. Sometimes when trying any new colours, it can feel a risk to take it, not known if it fully suits your skin tone, or the colours you already have in your wardrobe. Pastel pink has a gorgeous glowing effect on skin, and it compliments most colours on the colour wheel, meaning those items already in your wardrobe, are likely to compliment pink accessories.

These pink fedoras have been creeping up more and more, and seem to be being introduced by most hat companies now. Their effortless elegance speaks for itself, and whilst considered a bolder style, their ability to pair well season to season, puts them in a strong position, and as a fairly failsafe option.

– Style Inspiration –

I am totally blown away by the ease of styling this colour of hat. It is known that I like to try various ‘out there’ colours and statement pieces, but I do think the softness of this colour, and the way it suits all skin tones, makes this very much here to stay when it comes to fedora styling! Whilst it might feel like a risky colour initially, or a ‘would I really wear that purchase?’, I am very surprised how much I have reached for mine already!
