What I wore to Walt Disney World Florida, as a Country Girl not used to the heat! Outfits – what to wear, what to pack and outfit inspo!

Well my Darlings … I’m back! Florida 2022 complete ✔️

What a holiday… no quite literally what a holiday. I mean I knew I was optimistic cramming a Florida trip into just a week, but little did we know … Hurricane Ian was going to cause havoc. We stayed at a Walt Disney World Resort, and we were well looked after, but a 2 day lock in wasn’t quite the plan …

Anyway …

Todays blog shares outfit inspo for those Country Girls planning a hot holiday abroad. If you’re anything like me – I’m useless with Summer outfits in England, let alone prepping for the hot humid heat abroad. But when Florida calls, we answer …. dressed just as we should be. So grab a drink and see how I did it!

Travel Day

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Comfort is key on travel days, and flying to America is hardly close- so you need something you’ll manage comfortably in for a good long while. After working with Joules a couple of years ago on their active wear leggings range, I went on a mad search to try and find a black pair, and they have fast become my ‘airport outfit’. I can’t recommend the leggings enough, they are super stretchy and flattering, but really comfortable, so I really do start any airport outfit with these. I when just opted for a plain white tee, stretch denim jacket and my trusty crocs. Sorry but if you’re still not a croc convert … you’re missing out. THE MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES.

Day One – Magic Kingdom

“Remember you’re the one who can fill the world with sunshine.” — Snow White

WOOHOO …. we made it to Disney. I just knew for Magic Kingdom I needed a dress … and what better dress than my trusty faithful. I honestly reach for this dress for every occasion, you’ll know that if you’re a regular here, I seem to wear it in every blog! I got some pink sequin ears as soon as I got into the park to match, and I paired the whole look with the new Fairfax & Favor limited edition Breast Cancer Now belt and trainers. These were produced for Breast Cancer Awareness Month which runs during October, with all profits going to the Breast Cancer Now Charity. These Alexandra trainers are mega comfortable – perfect for a full day in a Disney park, and finished off the theme of pink in the outfit perfectly. The weather was humid but a floaty dress is the perfect piece to wear.

Day Two – Animal Kingdom/Hollywood Studios

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Another day, another park. Of course for Animal Kingdom, I had to start with Animal print. I have a few of these Zara bodysuits, and the material is seriously ‘wicking’, making it perfect for those humid days. Despite being a bit of a pain if you need the loo, I do find bodysuits generally look a sleeker finish to an outfit. These shorts are ancient from Shein, but they are a nice length and fit. I once again finished off with the F&F limited edition Breast Cancer Now items. We were in the parks around 15hrs a day, so these trainers really did get put through their paces. My Primark Disney backpack has been doing the job perfectly as a park bag. It isn’t too big and bulky, offering just the right amount of space for the essentials for the day.

Day Three/Day Four – Hurricane Ian

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Nothing could have prepared us for next two days ahead. Unfortunately Hurricane Ian made land in Florida, and EVERYTHING shut down. We were bound to our hotel for 2 days, pottering around and basically watching films or eating. Hurricane Ian caused some real damage in Florida, so whilst it was heartbreaking that our holiday was put on hold, our heart also massively went out to those who had such awful impacts from the hurricane, whilst we were safe, others lives were at horrendous risk.

I mainly wore leggings, and just casual tops and cardigans for these couple of days. Whilst the weather wasn’t ‘English’ cold, it was very wet and windy, and cold for Florida.

Luckily I had packed some leggings and ‘just in case’ tops and cardigans for any colder snaps, so I had some appropriate clothing to ‘lounge in’ so to speak.

Day Five – Epcot / Hollywood Studios

“Now, think of the happiest things. It’s the same as having wings.” — Peter Pan

Whilst we had been due to attend Universal Studios today, the parks remained closed due to damage from Hurricane Ian. I was on the app frantically trying to book a Disney park gone midnight, and managed to secure Epcot, so we took ourselves off to see this park a day early, and then finished the evening at Hollywood Studios. I would love to say comfort was key here, but it wasn’t. I am not a crop top girl in the slightest. In fact, I avoid at all costs, these make me feel the most self-conscious out of any clothing item, but here we are with a crop I picked up from Primark days before leaving. I liked the pattern, so I thought go for it, but I did have multiple regrets throughout the day. I love the fit of these denim shorts too. I would say though any rides with lap bars which pull down too tightly made denim shorts feel very uncomfortable!

Day Six – Universal Studios

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

WE MADE IT TO UNIVERSAL. Ok, so we didn’t think we would make it to Universal following its closure, but we did!! And wow…. honestly this was my first time to a Universal park and I had no idea what to expect, but it was the most fun. I had been dying to wear this Shein unitard and I had packed it especially for Universal, so I was pleased it got its moment. This item is totally out my comfort zone, but you know what, if you see something you like and you can’t stop thinking about it – just try it! I came to love this piece so much and I cant wait to wear it again. It was also so practical for all of the rides and for how the day planned out.

Day Seven – Animal Kingdom/Travel Day

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

We did got to Animal Kingdom for the morning before heading home, so there’s 2 outfits for this day! I wore my favourite Shein dress which is a dupe for those ever popular Zara dresses. I did wear a pair of small cycle shorts underneath as this dress is pretty short and has a tendency to blow up given any unfortunate circumstance. I also finished off with …. you guessed it…. the trusty F&F Breast Cancer Now limited edition items. How good did they look with the blue from the dress, and tied in with the Disney ears. Genuinely loved this outfit!! For travelling home I just popped back on the Joules leggings and another oversized tee.
