What to wear to Cheltenham races. How I styled two different looks for The William Hill Showcase October meet. PLUS where to visit & the November meet! šŸŽ

Hello my darlings!

Cheltenham racing is officially back, and my goodness, it feels like we’ve waited for it. After a long 5 months off course, we can finally head back to the home of jump racing!

This blog has a little bit of everything.

Let’s get into it …

The William Hill Showcase Meeting

Kickstarting the Cheltenham National Hunt Season, The William Hill Showcase is a two day meeting in October, welcoming back spectators to the home of jump racing, Cheltenham Racecourse.

This meeting really gives a taster of what lies ahead for the winter and spring season, ultimately with all eyes on who could be a potential winner at the Cheltenham Festival held in March.

These early meets allow trainers to showcase future potential, and for spectators to start tracking one’s to watch.

Outfit One – Friday

The opening day of the first meet of the season at Cheltenham, this had to be a good outfit! The different meets all have slightly different vibes. The October meet is much more relaxed – probably more of a country style than some of the other meets. You’ll typically see tweed coats and fedoras over the tailored jackets and fascinators that we usually welcome at the likes of the November meeting and the Festival.

The October meeting is very relaxed, and usually quite cold!!

I opted for classic country styling. A beautiful structured fedora, paired with a tweed jacket and skirt, and suede knee high boots. Whilst this look is fairly simple, it delivered that country styling typically seen at this meet.

Neutral colours are a classic, rich browns, creams and earthy tones. A fedora would usually be my option at this meet due to its more relaxed atmosphere.

I’ve used a mix of an inexpensive outfit base, paired with a well tailored jacket and beautifully made accessories, to balance the look. Not all race day outfits have to be expensive!!

Outfit Two – Saturday

Saturday’s outfit… well I think this jacket needs a stand innovation doesn’t it? How stunning is this!!

I opted for something a little bolder, after my classic country look on day one.

I wanted to add some boldness and flair to a look, and I knew this red jacket just had to take centre stage. I again paired the look with an inexpensive base of navy trousers and a classic high neck jumper. I then used this rich velvet jacket, silk scarf and beautifully made accessories to elevate the look.

It’s the textures that really pull this outfit together. From the velvet of the jacket, to the silk scarf, to the croc leather of the clutch bag, to the suede of the boots. You can see just how much I’ve added and played around with to add depth to this outfit.

I think this look came together so well!
