Styling each day of the Cheltenham Festival with British Brand, Fairfax & Favor. Style guide, top tips and how to get the most from your outfit!
THE CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL
Tuesday 12 to Friday 15 March 2024
With just 30 days to go, the long awaited Cheltenham Festival is now fast approaching. Considered the pinnacle of Horse Racing, the best of the best gather to battle it out, and go down in history.
Where legends are born, Cheltenham Festival is a four day event that captivates both seasoned enthusiasts and casual fans alike. Among its standout races, the Champion Hurdle commands attention, a test of both speed and agility over hurdles, where the likes of Buveur d’Air and Epatante have etched their names in history. The Queen Mother Champion Chase offers a thrilling watch for all, with legends such as Sprinter Sacre and Altior demanding the crowds attention. The Gold Cup reigns supreme, attracting the finest athletes to battle it out for glory, including well known names such as Kauto Star and Denman, and more recently, Al Boum Photo.
It promises to be four days of thrills, spills, drama and excitement. There really is nothing else quite like it!
But I hear you ask… what to wear!
You’ll find lots of racing outfit inspiration on this blog, but this one in particular is for those Fairfax & Favor fanatics out there. I have put together 5 outfits across the 4 days, to show my favourite pieces which could be used to create outfits perfect for the Cheltenham Festival. Whilst the Cheltenham Festival has no official dress code, dressing up is considered part of the event for many!
Let’s get right into it …
Tuesday – Champions Day
Are you ready for the Cheltenham Roar?
Day one of the Festival is always a super special one, as the buzz of the event finally comes to life!
I couldn’t pick between these two outfits, so I really wanted to share both with you!
The first outfit opts for classic Neutral tones, perfect for a Race Day style. The Sienna cape in Taupe pairs effortlessly with Tan boots and accessories. It has a removable Toscana collar, perfect for adding extra warmth on those chilly Cheltenham days. Paired with the Amira boots, one of Fairfax & Favors ever popular over the knee boots, you have the ultimate race day style. The Amiras are both elegant and comfortable, elongating your legs and adding a real statement footwear piece to your outfit. Whilst the subtle hardware detailing on the Mini Loxley bag, and Molton Belt, add just a little something, to tie in your outfit. I would simply complete this look with a pair of Cream/White jeans, and a Camel roll neck jumper, for a sleek, chic look.
The second outfit opts for Navy styling instead. I often find on my pale skin that Navy is much more forgiving and flattering than harsh Black can be. The Madeline Jacket is one of the newer outerwear pieces from Fairfax & Favor, and offers a beautifully fitted design and flattering cut. The gold button detailing stands out on this piece, whilst the contrast suede oozes luxury subtle features. This jacket, teamed with the Soho Boots, Mini Windsor and Regina Belt is a timeless look. I would finish off the outfit with a Navy wool skirt or pair of trousers, and a chunky cream jumper. If you want to add a pop of colour, this could be done through a fur wrap or silk scarf.
Wednesday – Style Wednesday
Speed and Style – the perfect combination!
Style Wednesday offers spectators a chance to truly show off their Festival fashion.
Houndstooth is such a timeless print, perfect for styling on Style Wednesday of the Festival. Black is not only a classic, but it is extremely flattering, practical and easy to wear. The Sienna Cape has been around for a while now, but the houndstooth print is brand new, and it is quite the statement piece. The slim belt cinches you in at the waist, creating a flattering silhouette, whilst the floaty arms offer a subtle contrast. This cape is the perfect race day piece.
Teamed with the Black leather Upton boots, this outfit creates a tailored, sleek look. The Upton boots are a gorgeous alternative to the classic Regina boots. The 7cm block heel offers an elegant lift, whilst comfort is still at the forefront, something which is so important on Race Days. Leather boots are also easily cleaned up, should we be faced with the Great British mud we all know and love!
Matching Black accessories keep this outfit both simple and sophisticated. The Sennowe belt is the perfect addition to any race day outfit as it offers a slim, classic and easy way to wear. The Buckingham bag is one of the newer styles from Fairfax & Favor. With its compact square design and luxury hardware detailing , this bag will add an elegant touch to all race day looks. The mix of delicate details and the floaty cape, creates a stunning style.
Finish off the look with a black jumper dress/roll neck dress, or a simple pair of black jeans and white roll neck.
Thursday – St Patrick’s Thursday
What’s the craic?!
St Patrick’s Thursday has always been a lively one, and we know why!
With the theme of Green, how could I resist styling the new Khaki Frances Trench coat. The long line fit of this jacket is ultra flattering, whilst boasting a luxury fit and detailing. The trench is a real statement piece, and definitely becomes the talking point of your outfit.
The dark brown Mahogany croc print is so rich, adding a beautiful contract to the Khaki Green of the coat. Using accessories like your bag and belt to really tie in texture and colour is how you can go from just wearing your pieces, to actually styling them. The Mini Windsor is the perfect size to include everything you need for race days, don’t forget any bag you take has to be smaller than A4 size!
The Leather Mahogany High Heeled Reginas are the perfect mix of practical and comfortable to go with this outfit. Sporting a higher heel than its Heeled Regina sister, this adds a boujee lift to your whole outfit, taking it up a notch. These boots are so elegant, comfortable enough to wear all day, and again, easy to clean!
If opting for a trench coat, it doesn’t overly matter what you wear underneath, as very little will be seen! I would opt for keeping the style to neutral colours, and something warm and practical!
Friday – Gold Cup Day
The day of all days!
An atmosphere like no other!
Of course with the theme of the Gold Cup, you just cannot go wrong with a Tan outfit. The Grace coat is the show stopping piece to this outfit, oozing both luxury and elegance, this will ensure your outfit is a head turner, admired by all around you. Keeping you cosy for the day, whilst looking effortlessly chic, pair with Tan accessories for the ultimate flawless look.
The Octavia Heeled boots are incredibly comfortable, despite the fairly high heel. These look super smart, and will tuck up into your Grace coat, meaning you can really layer up underneath this outfit. Cheltenham is often cold, so I would recommend opting for thermals underneath your clothing to ensure the shivers don’t spoil your outdoor viewing opportunities.
The Mini Tebury Bag is the perfect accompaniment to finish off this outfit, the perfect size for your race day essentials, whilst not too bulky against the rest of the outfit. I have also finished off the look with a pair of leather gloves!
Please note this blog is my own thoughts, and was not in partnership or collaboration with Fairfax & Favor.
If you love racing content, then be sure to keep an eye out for lots more coming your way!
That’s all for now my darlings!
Lots of love, Lucinda xo
