Steal my Style – What I wore to The Game Fair, plus Men’s Styling!

The Game Fair 2024

The Game Fair at Blenheim Palace this year was an absolute delight. The stunning backdrop of the palace grounds provided the perfect setting for the array of country pursuits on offer, from thrilling clay pigeon shooting to the fun of archery. Displays took place within the multiple arenas, including the ever popular Shetland Pony Grand National, to the fascinating falconry displays. As always, the shopping did not disappoint.

We spent a lot of the first day visiting stands, and enjoying the atmosphere that The Game Fair has to offer. We were able to see some great friends and brands alike. We spent time with Fairfax & Favor who had their biggest stand to date, including a raised stage with band, bar and ice cream cart – this isn’t just a stand, it’s an experience! We also spent time over at the Bredon Hill stand, where they had the ‘choose the next colour of the Schoffel gilet’, where you had the choice of 4 new colour ways, to pick the next colour released of their iconic gilet. As well as ‘if the boot fits’ with RM Williams – pick a box at random, and if the boot fits, you get to keep it! Stands and brands really went above and beyond this tear with customer experience.

On the Sunday, we spent a lot of time enjoying the activities. We tried our hand at Clay Pigeon Shooting, archery, and off road driving, as well as having more of a chance to explore gunmakers row and the fishing village.

This year’s Game Fair was truly wonderful!

Steal my Style …

Now more than ever there is a hype around creating the perfect outfit at these events. At The Game Fair, Welligogs hosts a wonderful Ladies Best Dressed competition on the Friday. This is always an incredibly well turned out event, with ladies dressed to impress, head to toe in stylish outfits.
Country fashion and style has really taken off, so it is no wonder we ravish in the opportunities to lean into this styling, and show off these incredible outfits.
I am rarely able to attend The Game Fair on the Friday due to work, however, the whole weekend is usually dedicated to the event, therefore, two outfits usually come together for the event!

Saturday – Outfit One

Saturday is the second day of The Game Fair, and time for my first outfit for attendance to the event. On the Saturday I was invited to enjoy the day with Fairfax & Favor, so of course this played a part in the outfit. I was also fortunate enough to team up with Schoffel to bring you a look including one of their beautiful S/S line pieces.

I started creating this outfit with the dress, which was the elegant linen dress from Schoffel Country. This classic shirt-dress silhouette and natural hue is ideal for a warm day filled with activities and lots of walking, whilst still looking timelessly elegant! The difference between wearing and styling often comes down to the accessories and finer details. I added in the Porto Blue belt and matching bag from Fairfax & Favor to inject a pop of colour, which perfectly complimented the outfit with its luxurious finish and vibrant tones. Footwear is always one of the most important parts of an outfit, especially if you are going to be on your feet all day. The Salthouse loafers are SO comfortable, I got these straight out the box and wore them all day long, and they were amazing – no blisters or painful feet! I then finished off the outfit with the silk twirly from Clare Haggas, tied delicately around my neck!, and a pair of oversized sunglasses. This look blended both practicality with stylish luxury, creating the perfect look for my first day at The Game Fair.

Sunday – Outfit Two

Honestly, day two began with a complete outfit meltdown. Over recent months, my body has changed shape, and the majority of my clothes are either too tight, or don’t fit at all! For someone who lives and breathes style and clothes – it isn’t the best! As women, I think we all go through fluctuations with our bodies, and we all understand that feeling of NOTHING looking right! It can quite literally be the change in my mood, and can instantly make all my confidence, and essentially happiness, drain from my body in those moments. Girls, just let me say, I hear you, if this happens to you too! So when it came to day two outfit, it was more what actually fit, and felt comfortable, than what I was originally planning on going with.

We know this wasn’t necessarily the outfit I wanted to put together, but it is the outfit we got! The white dress is basically a country events uniform these days. This one is just from Shein, but it does have some delicate lace detailing and ruffled sleeves, offering a feminine tone. I used a Clare Haggas scarf to add a burst of colour to this muted outfit. The rich palette and intricate design took this outfit from basic to stylish, and instantly elevating the look through its design and colour way. The outfit is cinched together with a classic belt from Fairfax & Favor, this helps to add a touch of sophistication and paired with the Chocolate Regina boots for a polished finish. These flat Regina boots are my go to for comfort but style, perfect for the location and activities of The Game Fair. Completing the look, the Grays 1922 handbag provides a timeless, vintage-inspired touch with its rich leather tones and elegant structure. Sunglasses are a must at any sunny summer event, and these could be worn around my neck when not required, with the use of the additional sunglasses chain!

Men’s Styling

Not to forget men’s styling! Of course there very much seems a Country events uniform for men as well. Checked shirts, Schoffel gilets and deck shoes are amongst the likely contenders for men’s outfit picks.

We were fortunate enough to spend some time with Bredon Hill, who are not only a stockist of Schoffel Country, but also a wide variety of Country clothing and accessories. We actually picked up (yet another) gilet, because you can’t have too many!

Light trousers, summer checked shirts and really comfortable footwear are the go to! The coral checked shirt on day one was from Schoffel, this was a stunning array of pastels in a small check, perfect for The Game Fair. One day two, a 1/4 zip casually over the shoulders is a great way to style up an outfit a little more, and add some more colour.

I can’t wait to see you in the next blog my darlings! Burghley Horse Trials really isn’t far away now, so keep an eye out for lots of outfit inspo for this coming soon!
