Steal my style – A weekend in the Cotswolds, Badminton Horse Trials and Girly Sleepover

Hello my Darlings! It’s good to have you back 💗

IT’S LATE …. I KNOW 🤦🏻‍♀️

What is it they say though… better late than never? And I still wanted to update you on the gorgeous weekend in the Cotswolds that I had with some of my best friends a couple of weeks ago. I know you’ll want to know tips for places to try, and things to wear – so what better time to fill you in on our girlie weekend.

Life is hectic at the moment, but these two girls bring so much peace into my life. There’s no drama, they just love me for who I am, and I couldn’t think any more of them. My girlies live a fair trek away, so it’s normally planned visits, and this time we put a weekend together around Badminton Horse Trials!

Friday Evening

Upon finishing work, it was time for the girls to head to Gloucestershire to spend a few days away with me. We had a table booked at an Italian place in Gloucester Docks, which is a popular dining destination, filled with a variety of eateries, with something to suit every taste. I am a huge fan of both the Greek place, Greek on the Docks, and the Italian – Settebello, both of which are set just outside of the main eating area, overlooking the water in a peaceful hideaway. It was so nice to be reunited with my girls, with so much to catch up on since I had last seen them.
We indulged in amazing food and wine, then venturing over to Warehouse 4, which is a great location if you want something a little more ‘rustic’ in Gloucester Docks. (A little advice, but if looking to visit any of those named places, it is always worth booking, as they are often full!)

Steal my evening meal style

Whilst I actually have no real pictures of this outfit because we were just too excited to get out, and chatting!!, I’ll show you a couple of selfies below! I’m head over heels in love with the Sleeveless Kensington dress that I wore from Holland Cooper. I recently received this piece as part of a collaboration with the brand, however, its fast become a go to. It’s flattering and perfectly cut, idea for dressing both up and down. I teamed this with my Raspberry collection Fairfax & Favor wedges and belt, and there on a Wandering Bee fur wrap for an extra layer.

Badminton Horse Trials

Ahhhhhhh! The return of Badminton Horse Trials!! This event really needs no introduction – it’s one of the most phenomenal equestrian events.

I feel like it is almost a little bit too late to discuss this event now, and there will be so many blogs and vlogs online for you to catch up on all of the action, but there are certainly a few key things to chat about. Firstly, in my own opinion, this is elite sport, with elite athlete, the course was extremely challenging, but it is meant to be. Not every horse/rider combination make it to Badminton, and that’s the point! There were falls and situations which were extremely ‘heart in mouth’ and moments where I looked away, however, I do think the extreme negativity surrounding this years event is debatable in both directions! Eric Winters Cross Country certainly brought the thrills and spills, but this event had been so hugely missed, and the atmosphere and support for the event we have all missed so greatly was truly treasured.

It was also great to see the shopping village so busy after such a quite couple of years at the shows. All of my favourites were there, so it was great to catch up with so many people I have known on the show circuit for many years, as well as those I am fortunate enough to work alongside with this blog.

If you headed over to the Mackenzie and George stand, you may have noticed a new collaboration, due to launch VERY soon now!! I won’t say much more in this blog, but keep an eye out for an upcoming blog, and on my social media channels!

Following a busy day at Badminton, we spent the evening at The Frogmill, which is a gorgeous restaurant/hotel in the Cotswolds. I can’t recommend this place highly enough, we all had either the Steak or Fish & Chips and the verdict on the food was second to none – if you have chance to visit this place, don’t let the opportunity pass!

Gloucester Quays Shopping

After our action packed Saturday, we had a lazy morning on Sunday getting up and getting ready. We wondered back over to Gloucester Quays for a brunch and some outlet shopping.

We had brunch at Portivo Lounge, which if you follow my Instagram, you’ll know I’m a regular at. I am mad on going out for breakfast, it’s my favourite meal. Once again the food was incredible, we all rated our meals so highly, and were fuelled up ready for a little bit of Shopping, and Lauren and Charlottes long drive home!

The outlet shopping at Gloucester Quays has slipped a little compared to how it used to. Often shops will come and go, therefore if you haven’t been for a while and are making a specific trip, do make sure that they are still there!! A couple of really notable stores are – Joules, of course, this outlet is amazing, there are so many great offers and it is actually really quite big – its very hard to walk away empty handed from here! Phase Eight is also another shop I have had great success with, if you are looking for good value Racing/Prom/Wedding/Christening outfits, this is a great place to look as you get exceptional quality but at the outlet prices!
