Staycation in Norfolk – Safari, Floating Spa, Yoga… A weekend of relaxation at Fritton Lake
Hello my Darlings, and welcome back to the blog. I know things have been a little quiet here, things have been all a little crazy and fun with plans. We’ve had Cheltenham Festival, alongside busy weekends and lots of PR trips! I’ve also had a broken laptop which has really slowed down the process of all of my content.
However, we are back, and honestly, this year is shaping up to be an incredible one, so I am really excited to take you along, and document it!
One of our busy weekends in March was spent at a glorious retreat in Norfolk, something I am going to share with you in this blog!
So, let’s get into it!
Fritton Lake, nestled in the heart of Norfolk, is a stunning, tranquil destination offering the perfect combination of natural beauty and outdoor activities. Surrounded by woodlands, supporting a rewilding project, the 120-acre lake provides opportunities for a range of water-based activities including open water swimming and paddleboarding. Those visiting can also explore scenic walking trails, as well as various other activities including tennis, yoga and jeep safari tours.
The site is home to Fritton Lake Hotel, a charming and welcoming clubhouse offering beautiful accommodation, as well as woodland cabins available. Guests can enjoy modern amenities, on-site restaurant promising locally sourced food, and a variety of outdoor spaces perfect for relaxation. With its exceptional facilities and picturesque setting, Fritton Lake is an idyllic staycation escape for those seeking a peaceful getaway!

Friday
Travel day!
We travelled up to Fritton Lake on the Friday evening, as we both work full time. There were a few accidents on the roads, and we were coming from the opposite side of the country, so we did arrange late that night.
We stayed in one of the beautiful clubhouse hotel rooms, which were super spacious, and beautifully designed. After taking our bags up to the room and admiring the facilities within, we couldn’t resist popping downstairs for a cocktail in the bar before bed. The cocktails were lovely, we had a lychee martini and a spicy margarita, sat right by the fire!
After a long day of work and travel, it was then time for bed!
Saturday
Saturday is the only full day we had at Fritton Lake, so we really wanted to make the most of it. We had booked onto the Jeep Safari, which was scheduled for 10am, so we were up in good time for some breakfast. We both had the full English, which was stunning!! It definitely fuelled us up ready for the day!
We then went off to meet our safari guide, Matthew. We took a boat across the lake, to the other side of the estate, where we picked up our trusty 4×4 vehicle for the tour.
Now of course this is an English country safari, and we got to see some of the beautiful animals that inhabit the estate, including the deer and cows! Matthew is so knowledgeable about everything on the estate, and shared such fascinating facts all the way around. The rewinding project is such a big part of the Fritton Lake land, and it was so pleasing to hear about the benefits of this whilst on the safari. This was the most fun experience and I’d 100% recommend if you’re going to head to Fritton Lake, it’s perfect for all of the family to enjoy!
We got back in time for some lunch at the clubhouse, and a crisp cider! Lunch was gorgeous, the do have a smaller plates menu, which is what we chose from.
We then spent the afternoon exploring the grounds. There are various footpaths that you can take. We chose a long walk to enjoy, and got to see some of the cabin accommodation on the other side of the land. We ended our walk at the stunning floating sauna, this is honestly so incredible. The sauna is on the lake, and the large glass front looks right out across the vast water ahead. This was a really special experience.
Following this, we headed back to get changed for dinner, which was again downstairs in the clubhouse. All of the meals are made with local produce, so the menu will frequently change! We had the Hogget (lamb), which was absolutely divine. Although full to the brim, we managed to squeeze in dessert, I had the cheese and biscuits which finished off the meal beautifully. The evenings in the clubhouse have such a lovely vibe, wine flowing and roaring open fires!
After a gloriously full day, and feeling so relaxed and at peace, it was time for bed!
Sunday
On Sunday morning we started the day with the breakfast again, having the yoghurt, granola and fruit compote, and the waffles! Delicious as always!
Our final activity was heading to one of the yoga classes on site. This was such a peaceful and relaxing experience, although I have to admit I did almost get the giggles at one point, looking across at my partner trying to keep up!
After yoga, we headed back to get changed and have a final last walk around the beautiful grounds before heading back home.
I am so grateful to have enjoyed such a lovely relaxing weekend away with Fritton Lake, it had the most perfect combination activity and relaxation. But for now, it was the long journey home ahead of us!
