Rating ALL my Cheltenham racing outfits from 2023 …
Today’s blog, and what was due to be the final blog of the 2023 year, has a look at the full list of Cheltenham races outfits worn, that’s right, every, single, one!!
We delve into the good, the not so good, and my true thoughts on how these outfits turned out!
As some of you may have seen, I only came back from California on New Years Eve, and I have been suffering with the dreaded lurgy going round since then, hence why the blog is late. However, it is here now, and I am excited to review these outfits with you!
So grab your favourite drink, and get ready to delve into some outfit inspiration, and how to not make the same mistakes I have!
JANUARY
Of course we are starting with New Year’s Day (2023) racing at Cheltenham! I really liked this outfit. I’ve worn very similar styles throughout other race days, mixing the red tartan skirt with various black accessories and clothing. For New Year, I decided to go for the skirt with over the knee boots, a simple back roll neck, velvet jacket, vintage green fur, and a classic fedora and matching bag – even my watch strap matches!
I was so pleased with how this outfit turned out. I think the red and black together create a really classic look, and the brown from the hat pin, and green from the fur really pull through into making this outfit Country.

MARCH
Of course March features none other than Cheltenham Festival, so I have 4 race day outfits to share with you!
Unfortunately I was going through a really rough time around the Festival, and wasn’t feeling myself at all. This meant most mornings getting ready for the day I was crying instead of laughing and being excited! Nonetheless, I powered through the week, let’s have a look at the outfits I finally came up with!
Day One – Champions Day
For Champions Day, I oped for pink and navy tones throughout my outfit. Cheltenham Festival is often cold weather, so despite some sunshine, there’s still a chill to watch out for. I had worn the impressive fascinator to Ascot previously, but I wanted to try styling it for NH racing instead. I think the subtle mix of Spring pastels, and classic navy, create a flawless outfit. PLUS …. I perfectly match Best Mate’s Boodles rug!

Jumper | Highland & Herringbone

Day Two – Style Wednesday
Style Wednesday was traditionally ladies day, and is usually my excuse to attempt dressing up a little more. I wore my absolute favourite fascinator, which I have worn multiple times previously, and couldn’t resist getting back out again! This time I mixed red, Black and Tan for the finished look.
I honestly can’t decide how I feel about the finished look of this outfit. Whilst I think the tan trench coat ties in with the feathers on the fascinator, and the red and black matches throughout, there is something to me that still feels a little disjointed. Overall, I wasn’t unhappy with the outfit, but could I have been happier… probably!

Day Three – St Patrick’s Day
I don’t mind this outfit by any means, however, by Thursday of the Festival I was feeling so overwhelmed and upset. I wasn’t feeling myself at all, and I think this rubbed off on how I saw my outfit and what I felt comfortable in. I wore another incredible fascinator by the super talented High Bird Designs, which I love, but I just felt the amount of shades of green in the outfit maybe bothered me a little but. However, each element of the outfit I adore, and I think the Hunt + Hall cape was made for that racecourse, plus you can’t go wrong wearing some green on St Patricks Day!

Day Four – Gold Cup Day
The final day of the Festival, GOLD CUP DAY! Always such an incredibly special day, with a special outfit to match! If you follow my socials or are regular to my blogs, you’ll know my obsession with plum has escalated, so this whole outfit was based around that colour way. Everything from the detailing on the fedora and hat pin, to matching fur and belt, make me happy. This Welligogs Houndstooth coat is one of my favourites, the fit is so flattering, and it really makes every outfit look special. Overall, I think the fur, plum accessories and houndstooth detailing all really make this outfit.

APRIL
Still not feeling quite right in April, and with a busy time at work, I only attended 1 of the 2 April meet days, but I loved this outfit! Theres always a hint of Sunshine at this meet, and the feeling of Summer on the way!
I was desperate to style the Katie Loxton Millie Bag in Lilac, and having found the perfect roll neck to match, there was no better place to showcase this than cheltenham. This outfit just worked! Everything came together perfectly. From the matching tweed two piece, to the lilac bag and jumper, to the fedora and boots matching, the whole outfit came off flawlessly.
Believe it or not, the gilet and skirt are different brands, just the same tweed. I don’t wear this gilet half as much as I should, when I see outfits like this, I am reminded how beautifully it fits, and how it finished off this outfit effortlessly.

OCTOBER
The start of a new National Hunt season, and finally starting to feel back to myself again, October rolled around, and with it brought two brilliant days of racing! Which means…. 2 outfits!
Day One – The Showcase Friday
Obsessed, obsessed, obsessed!
So this outfit features what was one of the brand new Fairfax + Favor releases at the time …. the Grace Trench! This coat just oozes luxury on every level and it makes me so happy. Not only super warm and cosy, this piece is an absolute statement piece, and is certainly made for the racecourse catwalk! I used a subtle blend of different neutral shades to pull together this outfit, and I was SO happy with the final result!

Day Two – The Showcase Saturday
I’ve already mentioned just how much I love plum, and with the launch of the new Welligogs Kensington jacket, I knew this was going to be the perfect race day combination. I don’t think there was anything particularly wrong with the outfit, it just doesn’t flow as well as I would have liked it to. I think more Navy from the jacket could have been tied in, to try and make the jacket less stand alone. I also think potentially the choice of footwear could have been better. The gap between where the coat ends, and boots begin, creates a very obviously block, and removes the seamless elongated look that I usually prefer to create through my outfits.

NOVEMBER
Day One – Countryside Day
I have to admit, this is pretty much a rewear of one of my previous race day outfits that I hadn’t worn in so long…. but LOVED! The outfit mainly consists of Joules clothing, and is finished off with some simple, black accessories. I think this outfit just comes together so well. The cut of the jacket, the fluffy fur, the streamlined black boots into black jeans, everything just works, plus I love the pink colour pop in this outfit. This is a really old Joules jacket now, but it really is a stunning piece.

Day Two – The November Meeting Saturday
I had purchased the lilac fur from the stand I usually visit the day before, so I couldn’t resist wearing it! It is such a unique piece, and I knew this jacket would just match perfectly. The outfit itself worked well, I think everything matches great and it is well put together, however for me there is just something I didn’t quite like about it, and I just can’t put my finger on exactly what.

Day Three – Family Fun Day
The Hunt & Hall cape is back! And this time I felt as though I just wanted to take it slightly more back to basics, and not get lost in too many shades of green. I think the simplicity of this outfit did the individual pieces justice, and I much prefer how this came out! This is one of my more plain and simple race day outfits, but as far as putting the outfit together goes, it is a nice simple one to recreate, and it worked well for the day!

DECEMBER
December welcomes 2 days of racing at Cheltenham, and the final meet at the racecourse for the year. There is always a fun buzz at this meet, with Christmas just around the corner. It is also usually a slightly quieter meet if you prefer that, or just want to try a day’s racing without the chaos of those really big meets.
Day One – The Christmas Meeting Friday
Don’t get me wrong, I really love styling up Plum, and this outfit was by no means a failure, but there is just something about it that I think could have been done slightly better, but I just can’t put my finger on what it is! It is another one to me that feels slightly disjointed. However, I love this beautiful jacket and scarf, and I think plum really is one of the most beautiful colours of styling. The outfit nods towards classic race day style, and the basis of the outfit is really easy to recreate.

Day Two – The Christmas Meeting Saturday
Saving the best until last? Maybe so! I LOVE this outfit. Honestly I just can’t fault it. It’s classic race day through and through. The mix of subtle oat and chocolate, the whole outfit effortlessly rolls, and it just made me feel SO good. This is another outfit that really is easy to recreate, it is such a simple foundation for an outfit, and one that I follow oh so often. I would wear this outfit 100x over, so you can definitely expect to see it featuring again at the races this year!
