Jumps are back! Steal my style, and how to dress for Cheltenham races, including my top coat recommendations!
It’s back!
Get ready to kick up some mud – it’s the start of the National Hunt Jump Season at the world-famous Cheltenham Racecourse!
Having just had the October meet, and with the huge November meet just around the corner, what better time to cover some outfit inspiration, and my favourite coats for the season!
Dressing for A/W racing is nothing but fabulous fun, don’t let the thought of wind and rain put you off. We embrace the elements and look wonderful through all of them! A fedora is a great place to start, whether it’s protecting your face form the sun, or hair from the wind and rain, this classic piece is an essential. Moving onto layering, I always recommend a cosy jumper or roll neck, this will help to keep you toasty as the weather starts to change, and we endure these single figure temperature race days. Using a thermal or top underneath for extra warmth is also recommended! You can wear anything from skirts to trousers to jeans – whatever you feel most comfortable in. A tweed skirt is certainly a go to for many. When it comes to footwear, comfort is key, and don’t forget to spray any suede footwear with a suede protector! Finish with a longline jacket or tweed blazer for a polished look.

Outfits from the Cheltenham October Meet
Having kicked off the Cheltenham season with the October meet, find out what I wore and how I styled my two outfits below!
Outfit 1 – Friday
Starting with an outfit of warm tones, I just knew I had to wear the incredible, newly launched Fairfax & Favor trench coat. This showstopper was the starting point of my outfit, and I worked around this. I wanted to tie in neutral colours, combining shades to create this flawless look. Over the knee boots and a fedora were used to finish off this outfit, and bring the final look together.
Steal my Style:
Hat – High Bird Designs
Hat Pin – J&T Plumes
Roll Neck – Primark
Trench Coat – Fairfax & Favor
Skirt – Holland Cooper
Boots – Fairfax & Favor
Bag – Salthouse England (Use ‘LUCINDA10’ for discount)
Outfit 2 – Saturday
Opting for an outfit with more colour for the Saturday, Plum and Navy made up the base of this outfit. Plum has become my favourite colourway, so the footwear or accessories in that colour are often what I will base my outfit around. The new Kensington jacket from Welligogs perfectly compliments Plum tones, so this outfit came together. quite naturally. I used a plum roll neck and navy skirt to keep in the theming, and finished the look with a plum bag, fedora and fur collar.

This is such a beautiful jacket, I just had to start with it. The classic double breasting of the trench makes for a timeless classic, that can easily be dressed up or down. The longer line length is ultra flattering too!
With green, burgundy, yellow and blue tones, this trench works particularly well with reds, navy and plum footwear and accessories. I would team this with black, navy or white jeans, plum boots and accessories, and a cosy roll neck jumper.
