Hats off to it! The Oxley Fedora by Hicks & Brown
It’s certainly no secret that I love a fedora hat. I will generally be seen in one all seasons, so whether it’s keeping the sun off my face in the Summer months, or to protect my hair from our wet and wild Winters, I will often add one as the finishing touch to my outfit.
The fedora hat is incredibly versatile, whether it’s a day at a Country show, the Races, Shooting or just a general day out, a fedora has so many uses, and can be styled in a multitude of ways.
Fedora hats have stood the test of time, and make for an absolute wardrobe essential. They are able to hide a multitude of hair disasters, keep the sun or rain off, add style and statement to an outfit, and have such a feel good factor. These hats are incredibly stylish, but so perfectly functional, meaning you will always be going back to one!
I’ve been a customer and fan of Hicks & Brown for many years now, and when I saw the launch of their brand new wide brimmed fedora, I was instantly captivated. About the Oxley Fedora
My heart skipped a beat when I first saw this hat, it was exactly what I had been looking for!
The Oxley Fedora is a brand new hat, welcomed into the Hicks & Brown Fedora family. It is their first wide brimmed hat, and makes for a real statement!
Available in three different colours, Pebble, Berry and Black, the Oxley Fedora is a timeless and classic statement hat, which will complete any outfit, town or country. Black and Pebble are such classic colours, and will work with the majority of outfits, these are also a great pick if you are new to fedoras, and want something to style easily. I think the Berry is beautiful, and I was torn between all three colours – the Berry has huge potential to stand out as a real statement piece for your beautiful outfits.
Made from 100% wool felt, The Oxley Fedora is finished with a contrast edge ribbon band, and the signature Hicks & Brown gold crest. These details make for a very luxurious look.
I did a reel over on Instagram of when my box arrived, so if you want to see how the Oxley Fedora comes packaged, head over to my Instagram, you can find the direct link to the reel here (this will open in a new page).
Ensuring your fedora hat is the right size is vital for comfort. Too big, and your hat is going to keep slipping down, or if there is a gust of wind, you are at risk of having to chase it across the ground – too small, and this will feel uncomfortable and tight all day! Don’t forget, your hat should be snug – but not tight!
Hicks & Brown have a size guide available for their Oxley Fedora, so that you can ensure the perfect fit!
The Oxley Fedora Size Guide:
XS | 53 – 54 cm |
S | 55 – 56 cm |
M | 57 – 58 cm |
L | 59 – 60 cm |
The Oxley Fedora is water resistant, meaning if you get caught out in a light rain shower, the hat will be fine. Should the hat become wet, simply shake off the excess water and allow to dry indoors. Be careful not to dry on or near direct heat as this may cause the hat to misshape. The hat should also be stored out of direct sunlight. Knowing your hat will clean up easily is such a confidence giver, especially when buying a piece to take out and about in the countryside with you!
Should any dust or dirt appear on your Oxley Fedora, a lint clothes roller can be used to remove this. More stubborn marks may require a damp sponge or hat brush. Mud should always be left to dry, before cleaning.
Priced at £79.00
My Honest Opinion…
I fell in love with the Oxley Fedora from the moment it was launched. As I mentioned above, I have been looking for the perfect wide brimmed fedora, and this just ticks all the boxes for me, from the attention to detail with the contrast band and gold logo, to the perfect brim, and colour options. I struggled to choose a colour, I really did. The Pebble would pair with everything in my wardrobe, whilst the black would be fantastic for the races, and we all know I love to add colour to my wardrobe, and I just think the Berry would make the best statement to finish off the perfect outfit.
The Oxley is incredibly easy to style, it has fit into my wardrobe as though it has been there all along. I went for the Pebble colour after much debate, as I knew this would just match anything and everything, meaning I can pull it out at every opportunity.
This fedora is incredibly well priced, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for! The quality with this brand is always second to none and you won’t find better out there. Priced at £79.00 I think this is a really reasonable price, and a must have piece for your wardrobe!

Perfectly Styled with …
So knowing how much I now love the Oxley Fedora, you’re wondering the best way to style one? I’ve been able to try out a few different ways so far, and there will be lots more to come! Everything I have finished off with the fedora has looked amazing, just proving once again how versatile these hats really are.
Autumn/Winter Style
A wide brimmed fedora is the perfect A/W accessory, and I am so looking forward to pairing this with my outfits to create a real statement.
Effortlessly style The Oxley fedora during A/W with a Navy or Black roll neck dress and team with some boots. Pair with a scarf that compliments the colour of your hat, for a polished finish. This look is so chic, and perfect for a day out with friends.
A wide brimmed fedora is the perfect accessory to accompany your favourite tweeds, whether that be dressed up for the races, or paired practically with your shooting jacket. If tweed isn’t quite your style, pair with a wax jacket and wellies for the perfect, functional dog walking outfit.
The style options for your fedora in the winter are endless, so whether your are off on a frosty mornings shoot, a day at the races, or a walk with the dogs, finish off your outfit with a wide brimmed hat to complete the look.
Top Tip – Style your hair in a soft curl for a more textured look. This will compliment the edges of the hat.
Spring/Summer Style
Fedoras are certainly not limited to your A/W wardrobe, and a wide brimmed fedora is the perfect Summer accessory, especially on those sunny days, when you want to keep the sun off your face!
Team with a pretty Summer Dress for the ultimate S/S look. I so often reach for a white dress during the Summer months, but The Oxley will pair with whatever type of Summer dress you choose. A classic look I would recommend would be a neutral coloured dress, in a light and floaty material.
Tweed skirts are another Summer favourite of mine. Pair with a crisp, white shirt, some loafers and your favourite coloured Oxley fedora, and you have a perfect Summer look!
Top Tip – Styling your hair in low bun will help to keep you cooler during the Summer months when wearing your fedora, and adds a classic, elegant touch.
