Chosen by Country Classic Lucinda – October Edition

It’s spooky season, and I’ve got no tricks all treats, for you in this months Chosen by CCL.

I feel like October has just flown by! Between work being manic, the clocks changing, and life still not seeming to return to any sort of normal – I just feel exhausted! I’ve said to you a few times that I have been feeling super unmotivated by Autumn this year, and honestly, I think with just the current state of things, this is just such a difficult time for everyone. My A/W lifestyle is heavily based around the NH racing season, but with the Cheltenham season having already started behind closed doors, and the November meet now the same, it isn’t looking good for the rest for 2020.

For me, I love putting these end of the month blogs together – they are just a little bit of an escapism from real life whilst I am writing them. During these blogs, I just get to talk about some of the things I’ve found to love during the month! I think it is important to note, that these ‘top picks’ blogs are exactly that, my top picks. These blogs are designed to bring you the products that I have been loving, therefore, I do choose what to include here.

I’ve previously had some people ask why these monthly round ups often don’t feature any negative reviews, and the very simple reason being – it is my escape to talk about the things I love – not the things that I don’t.

So, without further ado, let’s see the items which I have been shouting about this month…

Oculus Clothing
Modern Tweed Femme Skirt – Baby Pink

Oculus Clothing is a newly launched clothing brand, bringing unique clothing, which is suitable for all! They have some incredible clothing and accessories for sale though their online store, including beautiful tweed skirts, hairbands and jewellery.

One of the skirts which caught my eye was a stunning tweed skirt, which is available in a baby pink, and light grey. This skirt is so elegant, with its subtle tweed material and its delicate button detailing to the front. The skirt also has a slight A-Line shape, making it very flattering to the eye. There is a fine cream piping round the edge of the skirt, and a discrete zip at the side.

I got serious Gossip Girl vibes from this skirt. If there is one TV show with a desirable wardrobe, it is definitely that of Blair Waldorf. This skirt looks like it came straight out of Blair’s wardrobe, and I am completely fine with that. Some items just make you want to dress up, and this is definitely one of them!

I think this skirt is so pretty, and I’ve already had fun styling it in a few different ways. It looks beautiful paired with boots and tights for the winter months now, and it is going to pair equally well during the Summer, teamed with a white blouse and some sandals, or loafers.

The only thing I seemed to struggle with a tiny bit, was the sizing of this skirt. I am not sure if it comes up a little small, or if I have just enjoyed a couple too many cakes than I wish to admit during lockdown, but I did have to swap for a size up. So I would recommend if you aren’t sure on sizing, to just drop Grace a message/DM, she is soo super helpful, and that way you won’t have to send anything back to exchange.

This skirt is incredibly well priced, in fact, it is an absolute steal. For me, the pricing really sets this skirt apart, and makes it a bit more of a guilt free treat! It’s absolutely perfect for this festive season too – it is so pretty to dress up!

The skirt is currently available in a 6, 8 and 10.
Baby Pink & Light Grey.

Priced extremely reasonably at £26.00.

Tori Allen
Classic Unisex Sweatshirt

I’ve had the delight of working with Tori Allen on the launch of their brand new sweatshirts. This brand is such an incredible fit for me, with their branding and clothing line based around Horse Racing.

These new unisex sweatshirts are beautiful. They are a great weight, not being a too heavy or stiff material, but lightweight and soft, whilst ideal for also layering underneath. There is a super soft fleece lining inside the jumpers, and a ribbed collar, cuffs and hem. The branding is across the chest, and I think has a great Country vibe.

I have washed both of these quite a few times now over the duration of the month, as I seem to be living in them! I have found them to wash perfectly – I washed at the advised 30 degrees.

I love dressing up, and these sweatshirts are so easy to dress up or down, making them really versatile in your wardrobe. Sometimes with sweatshirts you can feel that they are a bit casual, but these look great with everything. The navy is a classic colourway, and the pink is a beautifully subtle shade – so easy to style with a variety of outfits.

I have worn these to the yard, as well as dressed with tweed skirts, white jeans and matte coated jeans – the looks are completely endless – and I can’t speak highly enough about them.

The sizing is unisex, and designed for a relaxed, loose fit.
The sizing is as follows: XS – 34, S – 36, M – 40, L – 44
I have both an XS (navy) and S (pink). Watch my instagram reel to see the difference in the sizings. Watch here – @countryclassiclucinda.

Available in Pink and Navy.
In XS – L sizing.

I currently have a competition running over on my Instagram page, with a chance to win one of these sweatshirts. Be quick though – entries close Sunday 1st November. Enter here – @Countryclassiclucinda.

Ollies Attic
The Classic Cashmere Poncho

Have I mentioned before that I love a poncho?!
Maybe just once… or twice!

Ollie’s Attic is a brand with an incredible ability to pick out timeless, classic designs, that will stay in your wardrobe …. forever! With every new launch, they just nail the perfect country wardrobe, which will definitely keep you going back for more!

This sort of poncho is an absolute essential, as it is so versatile throughout your wardrobe, all year round. I speak so often about the importance of items that you can count on, items that you can pull out and throw on with anything, for any occasion. This is what I always base my wardrobe around, these sorts of key, reliable pieces, and this poncho certainly falls into that category.

I love being able to layer up as much or as little as you like under a poncho, it means they are so comfortable to wear, and as warm or as cool as you need. The classic colourways that Ollie’s Attic have available are easy to style, which will match a whole host of wardrobes, and outfits. These also team so well over dresses, with skirts or paired with jeans.

These ponchos contain a unique arm slit in one side of the poncho, creating a lovely siloette for the poncho, as well as being practical. I have worn my poncho to the side, as it should be typically styled, but I have also worn it with this slit to the from, see image 2 above. I actually love this style with the longest bits of the poncho falling by each arm, as opposed to the front and back of you! You really can play around with these, and find how you love styling them most.

Made from a cashmere blend, these ponchos are super soft, light weight, and extremely versatile. A real wardrobe essential – I love mine! I am seen wearing the Latte colour above- it’s a classic, and it looks amazing with a country wardrobe!

Available in Navy, Latte & Lunar Silver.
One size.

Salthouse England
Serafina Clutch Bag Honey

My blog is no stranger to the Salthouse England brand, so when I received the brand new croc Serafina earlier this month, after taking it for a spin, I just knew it had to be part of this blog.

Salthouse England celebrated their 1st birthday on 29th October, and what is more fitting than including a new design of their first released clutch! I have previously written a blog about the original Serafina clutch, which can be found here. This original design is still available.

I am just a little bit obsessed with the new croc collection from Salthouse England. This started with the release of the new Floriana Saddle Bag (which BTW, I love too!), and more recently, the croc collection has expanded to a card holder and wallet. With these, the extended collection always includes a new take on the iconic Serafina clutch. Now available in the this croc print leather too, this clutch is a timeless essential, perfect for any style.

I’ve talked several times about how I really do need a Mary Poppin’s bag, with the amount I carry round with me – however, I did actually survive a day at Cheltenham Festival with just a Serafina Clutch, so if I can fit everything I need into one – I think anyone can! There is an internal card slot, meaning you can leave any bulky wallets or purses behind, and still have your cards and notes easily accessible. Also note, the new croc print card holders fit perfectly inside, and are available in matching and contrasting prints!

Featuring the unmistakable Salthouse England tassel, the details on this bag ooze luxury, including gold hardware detailing, a wrist strap, and the Salthouse logo.

You are able to personalise the Serafina with a gold embossing of up to 4 uppercase letters. This personalisation is free, and is such a beautiful touch, whether it be a gift for someone else, or for yourself!

Also available in Honey, as above, and 4 other colours!
Sizing – 24cm (W) x 15cm (H)

Fairfax & Favor
Breast Cancer Now – Limited Edition Items

Every year, the incredible team at Fairfax & Favor release limited edition items during the month of October, with all profits going to the Breast Cancer Now charity. Last year I wrote all about the F&F 2019 BCN campaign, you can read that blog here, which outlines all of the information about Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Breast Cancer Now chastity, and what signs and symptoms you should look out for.

Breast Cancer is the most common type of cancer in the UK, with 1 in 7 women affected in their lifetime, and it doesn’t just affect women, men are affected too.

This is the sixth consecutive year that F&F have supported the charity, and this year, they have raised a record amount. A limited edition pink Regina boot, signature cap and boot tassels were released, with the boots and caps selling out in minutes. With all profits going to the BCN charity, this is an incredible way to support such an important campaign.

Fairfax & Favor, and their amazing customers, have help to raise awareness, and money, through the purchasing of these amazing limited edition products. Each year, new pink products are announced, often selling out soon after their release.

The pink Regina boot is an incredible, bold, statement piece, so striking and beautiful. These sold out in moments, and are a complete showstopper. The signature cap was also incredibly popular, both practical and stylish, in a beautiful shade of pink, with the classic F&F branding. The tassels were then again released, in a new shade of pink, and a longer length. These tassels also featured new shields, including a pink enamel detailing this time around!

Despite all items now having sold out, you are still able to donate to this amazing charity, through the Breast Cancer Now website. Whatever you are able to give, does make a difference. You can follow this link to find out more about what your donations count towards, and how you can donate yourselves.

2020 total raised for Breast Cancer Now –  £125,466

That’s all for now Darlings. I have lots of blogs currently in the pipeline, including one which I have just had to push back slightly as it features a brand new item – which hasn’t been released yet!!

Stay tuned!!
Catch up soon!

Lots of love, Lucinda xo
