CCL Diaries – 10 – HOYS, Bad Food?, a Bad Mood & the Men in my Life?!
Hello gorgeous Darlings, how are you?
I’m totally loosing all track of time at the moment, is one week not so quickly disappearing into another! Between the copious amounts of work, pumpkin spice lattes and plans, the weeks are passing by ever so quickly.
The last time we caught up in a CCL diaries post, I was sharing the excitement of brand shoot days, Cornwall weekends, and of course, Blenheim Horse Trials. Since then everything seems to have been a bit of a blur. I’ve been working so manically, as many of you know, I work full time in the Equine Industry, and now life has ‘started back up’ again for wanting a better word, I seem to blink and weeks pass by. I’m loving being really busy again though, I thrive off having a lot on, but at the same time I feel so exhausted at the moment! My energy levels don’t seem to have caught up with the increasing of plans!
I’m not sure who else (if anyone!!) is feeling the same, but I’ve just generally felt in a bit of a bad mood recently too, with a pretty low tolerance for, well pretty much anything 😂. Maybe we can blame the change of weather, cooler temperatures and darker evenings?! I also had some really awful food poisoning recently, which really did throw me for about a week. I haven’t been that poorly for such a long time, and it really quite upset me! Luckily I’m absolutely fine now, and it can be a thing of the past!
On another, much happier note, my Instagram account (@Countryclassiclucinda) has recently hit a milestone in followers. If you are someone who does keep up with my posts over there, I really wanted to take the opportunity to again thank you ❤️! I love creating content and sharing images over there and I do have to admit that sometimes it really can feel hard! But I love what I do and I love how many kind, beautiful people love to check into my accounts, ask advice, and just generally chat!! So thank you, thank you, thank you!
Another completely off topic subject but we just have to talk…. ED SHEERAN! I have, and will always, be obsessed with this man! I had a life-sized poster of him on my wall at uni, and a mug which says I love him (yes I still have it…. and yes I still use it… no shame 😌). So… the question is…. did you manage to get tickets? I have a confession, I got over excited and tried to book them whilst in Cornwall, utterly confused why I couldn’t work it…. turns out I was a week early 🙈 Classic Lucinda moment! The weekend they were ACTUALLY released I was unfortunately working!! But the lovely friends I went to Cornwall with DID mange to bag us tickets! So in 2022 we will be going to see Ed!! Honestly, I already cannot wait! 💙
I also SO quickly want to touch on the other love of my life … BOND! I won’t go into too much detail because if you haven’t seen it, you must, so I don’t want to give anything away. I had such high expectations for this film, and with it being Daniel Craigs finale, I was really hoping it was going to exceed expectations. And that it did exactly that!
PLUS can we just take a moment to appreciate how amazing he looks!
💓 October … Think Pink … 💓
Lots of you will already be aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Now half way through the month, I think it’s so important that we keep talking about it, sharing information, and keeping the topic at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
Breast Cancer Now are a charity working tirelessly to educate, support and research across all areas. Breast Cancer is the most common type of cancer in women, with 1 woman diagnosed every 10 minutes. 1 in 7 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, and in the UK it is the 4th most common cause of cancer death, and a leading cause of death in women under 50. Despite this, almost half of women still don’t check their breasts regularly. And it’s not just women, men can develop breast cancer too.
Knowing the signs and symptoms, and checking regularly, could save your life! The Breast Cancer Now website has so much information on how to check yourself, and what to look out for.
Many of you will be aware that I work closely with the brand Fairfax & Favor across campaigns throughout the year. This year is now the 7th consecutive year that they have supported the Breast Cancer Now charity through the release of limited edition products.
I have a blog dedicated to this subject coming, so please stay tuned if you would like to find out some more information!
In the mean time, the limited tassels are still available, alongside some sizes of the beautiful pink Amira Over The Knee Boots. All of the profits from these sales go to BCN, or you can donate directly to the charity through either the Fairfax & Favor just giving page, or the BCN charity donation page on their website.

~🐴 HOYS! 🐴 ~
Horse of the Year Show!
The return of the indoor events! And wow, they really set the bar high with this one didn’t they! Did you make it over to the NEC for any of the event? I’d love to know!
Can you believe it was the 72nd HOYS? I know right, that’s incredible! It ran from 6th – 10th October, and I don’t want to say it, but it always kind of reminds me of the start if the run up to dare I say it … I’m going too…. CHRISTMAS 🎅🏻
It’s a completely action packed show, with someone for everyone! if you haven’t ever been before, HOYS encompasses the very best of equine competition, displays and shopping. Set across 5 days of exciting action, afternoon and evening performances thrill spectators with the very best of horsemanship. It is a truly incredible event, the performances will literally leave you with goosebumps.
The Speed Horse of the Year, and Five Fence Challenge are edge of your seat competition, but so exciting even if you don’t follow or compete in Showjumping yourself. It’s amazing to watch how skilful these incredible professionals are. I studied Equine Sports Science at Uni, and I am obsessed with elite competition and both the horse and rider as an athlete, so these types of competition are right up my street!
The Pony Club Mounted Games is also one of my very favourites to watch. They travel show to show, so there are multiple opportunities to see them throughout the year, and believe me, these children and ponies are just incredible! Why does it always give me a bit of a lump in my throat though!! I loved my Pony Club days and being picked up from school with the horse trailer ready to go straight off to compete! I love that these children get to do something they really love, and have the support to go off and spend the best time riding and enjoying the sport we love so much.

Another display which is truly incredible to watch is that of the Household Cavalry. They put together a spectacular musical which which is fast paced, exciting and truly skillful. If you can find a replay of a live stream, or a clip online to watch, it is well worth a view!
I just can’t get over HOYS. It was such an amazing couple of days spent with friends enjoying everything we love. The loss of events in the last year and a half has been truly heartbreaking for everyone. But the steady return gives us the hope of everything heading back in the right direction, and I am so pleased to have experienced another special event this year, especially with those I care about most!

As always with the shows, there was the outfits! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I LOVE A SHOW OUTFIT! And HOYS was certainly no exception! You can find my outfit details below!
Steal my HOYS style … Saturday 🐴
🌸 Pretty in Pink 🌸
Saturdays outfit was all about the ‘pretty in pink’. I had both the tassels and socks from the Fairfax & Favor Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, and teamed this with the most perfectly pink fedora. I love trying things which are a little different, and this pink hat is actually fairly easy to style, despite an unusual colour for a fedora! My blazer is new season from Joules and this continually gets so many comments and compliments. It is such a subtle tweed, and paired with a classic white puddle shirt it has a simple elegance to the combination. I like taking a big handbag to shows, so opted for my trusty Grays Alice handbag – plenty of space for everything I need (or pack…. but don’t need!!)
