A review of the Elizabeth Gilet by Fairfax and Favor πŸ‘

So imagine if everyone’s favourite footwear brand branched out into clothing, well that’s right, that’s exactly what forward thinking footwear brand, Fairfax and Favor have done.

Toscana gilets have taken the fashion runway by storm this year. And whether you think one is for you, or you’re not quite sure, I can guarantee you’ve had a look and lusted over how soft and cosy they are.

Considered a wardrobe essential for ‘throwing on over anything and everything’ the Toscana gilet is considered both indulgent and high-end, with the wool used known for its super soft quality.

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on one of the Fairfax and Favor Elizabeth Gilets when they first launched, and I’ve been putting it through its paces ever since. I’ve fallen in love with the style of gilet, and have been amazed how seamlessly it has fit into my wardrobe.

The Elizabeth Gilet

The very first clothing item from the incredible Fairfax and Favor- welcome to the Elizabeth Gilet. A super soft and cosy hand-made Toscana Gilet.

This gilet is beautifully made with a thick, cosy, premium Toscana sheepskin. The gilet is tapered in at the waist, creating a flattering fit without bulk. The outer of the gilet is incredibly soft, this is a feature outfit piece that you just won’t want to take off!

The gilet features two hook and eye closures to the front bust and waist of the gilet. Absolutely perfect for wrapping up and keeping you warm on these chilly Autumn/Winter days.

There is the iconic Fairfax and Favor gold shield logo studded onto the bottom of the jacket. The gilet also features a hanging chain inside so that you are able to pop this up on a hook or hang when not in use.

The gilet is currently available in two classic Fairfax and Favor colours- Tan and Chocolate.

As this is a natural product, there will be variances with colour and texture- which is totally to be expected with sheepskin. The Elizabeth Gilet should also only be specialist dry cleaned. Fairfax and Favor also suggest not wearing with lighter colours and avoiding getting wet due to dye transfer. It’s always better to be safe than sorry!

Styling the Elizabeth Gilet

This on-trend gilet goes with everything and can be styled in hundreds of different ways. I haven’t really found anything that it doesn’t go with! From coloured jeans to dresses, this gilet is the perfect styling piece.

This timeless garment is a winter wardrobe must have. Pairing faultlessly with any of the Fairfax and Favor boot range, the Elizabeth gilet completes the ultimate winter look. But it doesn’t have to end at boots. This Toscana gilet could be paired with high waisted jeans and even heels for the perfect evening drinks look.

Below are a couple of my favourite outfits I have styled with the Elizabeth Gilet:

  • This gilet pairs perfectly with coloured jeans. I rarely wear just plain coloured jeans but I’ve found this rich chocolate to match every jean colour I’ve paired with so far. The cosy, but flattering style of the gilet paired with skinny jeans creates a flawless look from countryside adventures to shopping in the city.
  • Day to night, drinks to exploring, how beautiful does the gilet pair over a pretty print dress? I loved pairing the cosy Toscana with this pretty floral to create an Autumnal spin to a summery dress. Despite chocolate in colour, the rich brown still pairs with tan accessories beautifully. But don’t forget, if Tan is your colour, you can also purchase Elizabeth in that colourway!

The Elizabeth gilet pairs perfectly with your white jeans and coloured shirt combination. This gorgeous shirt is from Koy Clothing and matches the gilet and boots so well. The pink of the shirt cuffs, belt and tassels add a subtle colour burst, whilst the classic styling of the gilet ensures this look remains a timeless classic.

The autumnal colours found in this My Best Friends Wardrobe dress are really brought out by the Elizabeth gilet. Dresses aren’t just for the summer and a piece such as a Toscana gilet mean you can wear your favourite dresses or skirts all year round, by turning your whole outfit into a cosy winter look.

    Top Tips:

    – Invest! Timeless, classic pieces are definitely worth the investment. These pieces are made to last and won’t go out of style.

    – Check out the size guide for your perfect sizing. Currently the Elizabeth Gilet is available in XS-L. Sizing : XS – 8, S – 10, M – 12 & L – 14. The only thing I would say about this gilet is that I potentially wish I had sized down. I tried on the small initially and went straight with that, but I think I could have possibly gone down a size.

    – Don’t be afraid to experiment with layers! Use scarves and jackets to layer up this look even further in the very cold winter months.

    – Be bold! The two classic colourways of this gilet mean you can experiment with brighter colours for the rest of your outfit if you like.

    Final thoughts…

There is no denying it, I absolutely LOVE this gilet. This timeless piece will take you from day to evening, no problem at all. There are so many ways to style it, and it is so soft and cosy.

This is the perfect addition to any Autumn/Winter wardrobe. The weather has definitely turned now and my winter wardrobe is in full swing. I couldn’t be without this essential item now, it really is that cosy!

Fairfax and Favor have now opened their first shop in Holt, you can find out all about the move here. Why not head down to the shop itself and have a try on of the beautiful Elizabeth gilet, or some boots, or both, you can even enjoy a G&T at the same time- sounds perfect to me! Or you can meet the team at one of their events, find a list of their social calendar for the rest of the year, here.
