3 Outfit Ideas for The Showcase at Cheltenham Races

IT’S TIME!!!!! 🐎

Oh Darlings, we’ve made it!! It’s Cheltenham week, and oh my am I excited! If you’ve been a follower of CCL for a while, you’ll know Cheltenham Racecourse is home for me, and it’s finally time for the season to start again. CCL first started because of my love of racing, and racing style, so these are always special blogs to me, because I remember just how and why this all started!

Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd marks the first meet held at Cheltenham for the new 22/23 National Hunt Season, and it promises to be a great one… but I hear you ask… what to wear!

Well never fear… let me show you 3 outfits all worthy of that Cheltenham runway… Let’s get into it….

🐎 Outfit One 🐎

I had to start with an outfit for all those Navy lovers like me! It’s Navy season and best believe I am here for it! With Navy being a much softer colour than black, it can often be an easier and less harsh colour to style. Combine that with Tan, and you have the most effortlessly elegant style. I’ve used a base of Navy through a roll neck jumper and simple jeans, added a tweed jacket which introduces the Tan into the outfit, and then finished with Navy and Tan footwear and accessories. This outfit is so classically Cheltenham! Something to bear in mind is that Cheltenham does have its own climate so even if it feels like a warmer day, the chances are after being stood out for a few hours, you could feel chilly, so tweed jackets never do go amiss there.

🐎 Outfit Two 🐎

Lady in red … there’s just something about it isn’t there! This outfit is a little different, and a little daring, and I LOVE IT! Red is such a powerful, confidence giving colour, and what better seasons to wear it than A/W. This velvet blazer is so feminine and chic, but it has a slight stretch to it, making layering underneath both easy and practical for a day stood outside. I love the contrast of the Red & Tan, which compliment each other so well. A fedora is a complete cheat piece for the races – not only do the look phenomenal, but they are perfect for keeping you sheltered from whatever the weather, keeping both the sun and wind/rain off your face and hair!

🐎 Outfit Three 🐎

Probably the best combination for any race day outfit – Chocolate and Green. Both colours echo a classic Country style so beautifully. This is possibly my favourite outfit from the trio (I’m allowed to have favourites right?!). It is everything I think a Cheltenham outfit should be! The Damson pop of colour on this jacket stands out so beautifully against the subtle tones of the rest of the outfit. This is a great trick for just adding a little bit of colour into an outfit, without having to add anything. Suede boots are also commonly seen at the Racecourse, and ladies don’t forget if you have them safely wrapped up in bubble wrap – they are meant to be lived in, and for you to feel good in! Get those boots out the box and spray them with a protector, I always use ‘Liquiproof’ on mine. This will protect them from the elements and get you living your best life in them. I always recommend treating them with something before wearing – the races can often be a little muddy or wet!!
